Senior Fellow (Nonresident)

Jason S. Carroll is the Family Initiative Director at Wheatley Institute. Prior to this, he served as the Associate Director and as a Fellow at Wheatley for nine years. He was also a professor in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University, where he still holds a courtesy appointment; he is also a Senior Fellow for the Institute for Family Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Carroll is an internationally-recognized researcher and educator in the areas of virtue science and flourishing marriages, marriage readiness among young adults, healthy sexuality in marriage, and modern threats to marriage—such as delayed age at marriage, materialism and careerism, pornography, digital distractions, and non-marital childbirth. Dr. Carroll’s work has been featured in the Economist, the Atlantic, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and other popular media and news outlets. In 2014, Dr. Carroll received the Berscheid-Hatfield Award for Distinguished Mid-Career Achievement, a biennial award given for distinguished scientific achievement by the International Association for Relationship Research. He and his wife Stefani reside in Draper, Utah. They are the parents of five children and two grandchildren.
